RBS have announced that they are postponing the closure of their Bannockburn Branch until 12th November this year.
The Branch was initially due to close on 25th June.
RBS intend to move their services to a new location in the Thistles Centre.
Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford has campaigned to keep the Branch open, having met with RBS representatives and having written to UK Government Ministers, calling for ministerial intervention.
Bruce Crawford MSP said:
“Whilst I welcome this postponement as it means that the local Branch will remain open for longer, it is nevertheless disappointing that the closure is still going ahead.
“I have previously written to the Chancellor, calling for him to intervene on this closure. The Tory UK Government owns 73% of RBS, the influence is there and Ministers must act in the interests of local communities.
“In light of this postponement of the Bannockburn Branch closure, I will be making further representations to the Chancellor – Bannockburn and eastern village communities cannot afford for the Tory Government to continue to sit idly by as this important and busy local Branch is closed.”
