The Scottish Government’s Bill, pardoning gay men in Scotland for historical sexual offences has been passed at Holyrood – after being voted for unanimously by MSPs.
Bruce Crawford MSP said:
“This isn’t about making the errors of the past right, this is about recognising that when these laws were enforced, it was the State that was in the wrong, not the individuals.
“For many people who were prosecuted under these historical laws, this will understandably not be enough. However, I hope that this helps to set the tone about the type of inclusive country that we are and that we aspire to be.”
