Local MSP Bruce Crawford has commended the work of Kippen Primary School pupils, who have produced a Road Safety Campaign Video, published on social media.

The video highlights the dangers of cars speeding outside the school, providing statistics about the effect of excessive speed.

Mr Crawford is currently supporting the local community, who are campaigning for the 20mph zone immediately outside the school during certain times to be extended to the whole village.

In a letter addressed to pupils of the school, Mr Crawford congratulated young people for getting involved in campaigning on a serious issue in the local village.

Commenting, Bruce Crawford said:

“There’s no need for traffic to be travelling faster than 20mph in the village and it poses a real danger to young people as well as other vulnerable residents in the local community.

“I have been campaigning with the local community to get the Council to look into reducing the overall speed limit within Kippen.

“I know that, in response to these issues being raised, the Council have committed to conducting speed surveys in Kippen and will use this to inform proposals for a village-wide 20mph zone.

“I am utterly delighted that Kippen Primary School pupils have taken part in this campaign video. This is not only an excellent exercise in engaging in a community issue, but is also addressing a very real problem in the Kippen area.

“I’ll be sure to keep pupils updated with the campaign on my part.”
