Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford has received assurances from First Bus that a total of ten buses will be upgraded in the Balfron area.

The assurances come after Mr Crawford wrote to First Bus to raise concerns brought to him by a number of constituents in the area about the state of the current fleet. Some had cited issues with heating and water ingress, as well as the general tired-looking nature of the vehicles.

According to First Bus, one such bus has been repainted and reupholstered. In addition to this, further vehicles are due to be upgraded, and work on this will continue through this year.

Commenting, Bruce Crawford said:

“I am encouraged by this response from First Bus. Having met with management from the company, I have an understanding of what their plans are for the Balfron fleet.

“The concerns brought to me are understandable. People rightfully expect their journey on a bus to be comfortable.

“I look forward to being updated on further buses being upgraded, and hope to see any issues involving water ingress to be addressed appropriately.”
