Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford has submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament, congratulating the community owned Gartmore Shop on its 20th anniversary.

The motion, which has been signed by a number of MSPs, says:

That the Parliament congratulates everyone at the Gartmore Village Shop on its 20th anniversary; notes that the popular, community-owned store serves locals and visitors alike; acknowledges that it continued to provide a valuable service throughout the extreme weather in March 2018, and wishes all involved with the running of the store the very best.

Commenting, Bruce Crawford said:

“The Gartmore Village Shop has supported the local community for 20 years – this is an astonishing achievement.

“Only recently, I visited the shop after the Beast from the East storm battered villages across rural Stirling earlier this year. Despite the challenges, the shop offered a valuable service to local people – demonstrating a real determination and commitment to what they do.

“For a village store that means so much to the local community, it was appropriate that its 20th birthday was recognised in the Scottish Parliament.”
