Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford has today welcomed additional Scottish Government support towards student hardship funding.

Home to both the Forth Valley College Stirling campus, and the University of Stirling, Mr Crawford’s constituency is proud of its further and higher educational credentials. The coronavirus pandemic has left many disrupted and distraught, including those who are studying at college or university.

Students will be able to apply to the £5 million overall package through their own institutions.

Commenting, Bruce Crawford said:

Stirling is home to thousands of students from across Scotland and the world. We’re rightly proud of the fantastic contribution they make to our communities, city and villages.

“Many student members of our communities have stepped up in this great international crisis to volunteer their time and services. We’ve seen student nurses answer the call, and take up their posts on the NHS Forth Valley frontline. But students remain vulnerable too, both financially and from a welfare perspective.

“I warmly welcome this package of further support to students in these unprecedented times, which will go some way in providing the support that our students need right now.”
