Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford has thanked members of the local community in Gartmore for their efforts at a special event, celebrating the volunteers who have helped put the Black Bull Pub together.
The pub came into community ownership last year, and locals have rolled up their sleeves to help paint and redecorate the site.
Behind the initiative were two local businessmen, Peter Sunderland and David Teed. Also attending the event was TV Chef Tom Kerridge.
Gartmore is the first community in Scotland to own both its local pub and local shop.
Commenting, Bruce Crawford MSP said:
“What a phenomenal achievement for the local community. It was great to see so many local faces come out to support the community’s takeover of the local pub and to have helped in its renovation.
“Gartmore is demonstrating what a community can do when it comes together for its common good. The local shop has served the the community well over the years, and I just know the local pub/hotel is going to be a roaring success too.
“I look forward to returning to Gartmore for a couple of pints!”
